On April 20, the medium-length film “To be or not to be” was premiered at the October Center in Valencia, the work of Alberto Adsuara and the third of his six documentaries on the desire of women through cinema, and to which I have the pleasure to accompany with music. On this occasion, the soundtrack fluctuates between rhythmic bases of strings in an ostinato loop and others of bass and drums making smooth jazz, between metaphysical synthesizer moans and tarantellas, to end with a classic rock drum set, rustic and powerful. Always controversial, Adsuara manages in all his works to make us reflect and reconsider our own positions. Documentaries that reformulate the genre thanks to an original format that mixes cinematographic quotes with monologues, scripting essays on the human condition. Estar o no estar
El pasado día 20 de abril se estrenó en el Centre Octubre de Valencia el mediometraje “Estar o no estar”, obra de Alberto Adsuara y tercero de sus seis documentales sobre el deseo de la mujer a través del cine, y a los que tengo el placer de acompañar con música.
En esta ocasión, la banda sonora fluctúa entre bases rítmicas de cuerdas en bucle ostinato y otras de bajo y charles haciendo jazz suave, entre quejidos de sintetizador metafísico y tarantellas, para acabar con una batería clásica de rock, rústica y potente.
Siempre controvertido, Adsuara consigue en todos sus trabajos hacernos reflexionar y reconsiderar nuestras propias posturas. Documentales que reformulan el género gracias a un formato original que mezcla las citas cinematográficas con el monólogo, guionizando ensayos sobre la condición humana.
